  • Bio: Born in California and raised on a hobby farm in rural Minnesota, Melanie discovered her passion for commercial art when she moved to Minneapolis in high school. Most of her life’s travels have consisted of drives to neighboring states and Canada and a few missions to post-Katrina Mississippi when she was 18 years old, but she has never “crossed the pond.”

    She is passionate about her career and she knows that she’ll be traveling a lot for work and is excited about it, but she doesn’t know what to expect. She watches CNN and knows that liquid restrictions and baggage restrictions and fees exist so she doesn’t want to make mistakes and lose her make-up and hair products in front of the colleagues she is trying to impress. Not being the most seasoned traveler also means she wonders about the weather constantly (humidity causes her hair to frizz). She wants access to everything she needs to know before even packing from her mobile device and wants updates texted or Facebooked to her since she is bound not to miss those messages (she doesn’t yet have her work email enabled on her mobile). One other concern she has is cost. She has her first credit card but her credit-line is still very limited. Overall she is less concerned about where she is going and more concerned about getting there.

    Her spare time is spent cooking with friends or eating out and babysitting her niece. Her budget is limited since she is trying to save for a house.
